Special Moments in This Blessed Month!

Assalamualaikum wa rahmatullah,

Shaykh Kamal (may Allah subhana wa ta ala bless and preserve him) informed us of certain times during the day in this blessed month that we should take advantage of. For the benefit of the masses I am going to share these blessed gems :)

There are three specific times in the day, during Ramadan, that we should make the most of. Make a special effort to take time out during these three times and dedicate them solely to Allah subhaanahu wa ta'aala.

The first is right before Fajr-- about 10, 15, or 20 minutes before it starts. We should wake up for suhur, eat first, then dedicate the rest of the time to 'ibaadah. At this time we should try to pray tahajjud salaah, recite Qur'an, and specifically make an effort to engage in muraqabah. The masha'ikh have said that the way to find Laylatul Qadr in this blessed month is to make sure that every night you wake up before Fajr and be certain that when the first ray of sunlight begins to emerge from the horizon, it finds you engaged in some act of 'ibaadah. He highly recommended muraqabah for this time, in addition to recitation of the Qur'an. Most, if not all, of you are living with someone else. Whether they're your parents/siblings, roommates, or your husband, either you have to wake up and prepare for suhur for someone or someone is waking up and preparing suhur for you. So even if you're not praying, be sure to get up at that time and take advantage of the few minutes, however many you'd like to dedicate, before Fajr, to doing some form of 'ibaadah. Do not let the sun rise this month without it finding you worshipping your Lord.

The second time that we should take advantage of is right before Maghrib, again about 10-15 minutes before it starts. This is a very blessed time for making du'a, and is actually one of the moments that are said to be times of acceptance. So if you're the one preparing iftar ;) then make sure you're done preparing 20 or so minutes before, so you can wash up and just sit peacefully and make du'a to Allah subhaanahu wa ta' aala, and ask Him for all the spiritual blessings you can think of... whatever you're working on, ask Him to grant you tawfiq in that, and beg Him to forgive you (and all of us!) and to bless you and increase you in your state of nearness to Him and your obedience to Him and your remembrance of Him. Just open your heart and pour its contents into a du'a to Allah. I believe he also recommended this time for muraqabah and remembrance, as it is a time of acceptance, so our hope is that Allah subhaanahu wa ta 'aala will accept any 'ibaadah we do in this time.

The third time is actually the very minute that Maghrib starts. He singled this moment out and said that we should try our best to be making du'a when this moment comes. I'm not sure why he singled this moment out, but I figured it must be pretty important if he made a point to mention it separate from the 10-15 minutes spent before Maghrib. Just be sure that this moment, specifically, finds you making du'a.

May Allah subhana wa ta ala grant us the tawfiq to make the very most of this blessed month :)!

Please keep eeeeeveryoneee (including me) in your duas!

pre Ramadan blues...

assalamualaikum wa rahmatullah...

I've tried to stop posting non-sensical random thoughts and stuff...but sometimes I just need to get it out. (sorry)

I don't know where to begin, nor do I know where to end. Ramadan is around the corner and each Ramadan I realize how much I need to work on myself...and today I was sitting and contemplating life, and it was one of those moments when I wished a rope would fall down from the sky and would lead me to my Beloved...

and then of course I thought about how I would present myself to Him, subhana wa ta ala...and ofcourse it made me analyze the amount of filth I've accumulated on my heart and my heart sank. This relationship between Allah and His servant is so simple, yet we make it so complex. We say we love Allah, we say we want to see Allah, we say we are IN love with Allah ....but.......

but what? But we're too lazy? But its too hard? But there are so many distractions?

These excuses seem so dumb here on paper (or the computer screen), imagine how stupid they'll sound on the Day of Judgment when you are actually standing there watching the scale tilt to one side....

but..........

I've seen many people in love and subhan'Allah its amazing...everything they do, they do for their beloved. People become selfless and put themselves and their needs second to that of their beloved....

then why is it that we continue to transgress against the source of all good, of all love- when all we want is to be in His presence and to attain His pleasure ...

:(

May Allah subhana wa ta ala allow us to attain His pleasure this Ramadan....
