nima ...

assalamualiakum wa rahmatullah.

i was cleaning out my mailbox and came upon my Ni'ma retreat essay:

“Truly in the heart there is a void that can not be removed except with the company of Allah. And in it there is a sadness that can not be removed except with the happiness of knowing Allah and being true to Him. And in it there is an emptiness that can not be filled except with love for Him and by turning to Him and always remembering Him. And if a person were given all of the world and what is in it, it would not fill this emptiness.” -- Ibn Qayyim al Jawziyya

There comes a point in every individual’s life when everything that they thought was so important, everything and everyone that seemed to matter, comes crashing down. And all of a sudden one thing becomes absolute and certain: We are all alone. There is only one being and one path that can grant an individual complete and utter serenity, and any void in this relationship can cause an individual to slip and be engulfed into darkness.

“Knowledge is a comforting friend in times of loneliness, it is the best companion during travels, and it is the inner friend who speaks to you in your privacy. Knowledge is the discerning proof of what is right and what is wrong, and it is the positive force that will help you surmount the trials of comfort, as well as those of hardships. Knowledge is your most powerful sword against your enemy, and finally, it is your most dignifying raiment in the company of your close companions.” -- Mu'adh ibn Jabal ra

The solution seems so simple, take a step towards Allah, and He subhana wa ta ala will
dash towards you. How do you take a step towards something, or someone, or some being, that you physically can not see or attain? None other then through Allah himself: His own words, which were revealed through His Angel to His Messenger, and from that Messanger (salalahualayhi wa salam) was transmitted to numerous amounts of companions, who carried this Message, this light, and spread it throughout the world. So Insha’Allah ta ala this is my humble attempt to draw closer to Allah subhana wa ta ala, by simply surrounding myself with those individuals who have developed a true love for Him, and his Rasool (salalahualayhi wa salam) and have taken this beloved light and illuminated their lives with it.

Sigh, subhan'Allah what an experience...
